Invoices and payments
Making an invoice from the estimate
Creating the final invoice, which estimate it copies, and checking it before it goes.
- Open the job.
- Make sure you are on the revision the client agreed to, and click Mark as approved if it is not approved yet.
- Click Make the invoice, beside the approved estimate. You can also click Invoice in the stage bar, then Make the invoice.
- Check the lines, the dates and the total.

The new invoice is a draft with every line from the estimate. While it is a draft you can change any line, add lines and remove them, the same way as on an estimate.
Which estimate it copies
The approved revision, if there is one. Otherwise the newest revision that has not been replaced. The Invoice panel says which one it is before you make it.
The invoice number and dates
- The invoice carries the job’s number, the same as its estimate.
- Leave Invoice date empty to use the day you send it.
- Leave Due date empty to work it out from the Days to pay invoices of the business name.
- Both dates are fixed when the invoice is sent.
TipA job has one final invoice. If you need money before the job, use an advance invoice as well. See Taking an advance.
