1. Make the file

  • Apple Contacts on a Mac: select the contacts, or click All Contacts and press Command A. Choose File, then Export, then Export vCard. This saves a .vcf file.
  • Outlook: choose File, Open and Export, Import/Export, then Export to a file, and pick Comma Separated Values.
  • Google Contacts: click Export and choose Google CSV.
  • A spreadsheet: put one person on each row, with columns such as Company, First name, Last name, Email, Phone, Address, Town, Postcode and Country. Save it as CSV.

2. Import it

  1. Click Clients in the side menu.
  2. Click More, top right, then Import clients.
  3. Click Choose file and pick the file.
  4. Check the list. Untick anyone you do not want, such as family and friends. Untick people with no company does that in one go.
  5. Click Import, followed by the number of clients.

How the list is made

  • People at the same company become contacts under one client, named after the company.
  • Someone with no company becomes a client of their own, marked person.
  • The client takes its address from the company’s own card, or from the first person with a work address.
  • A client already in BidWrap with the same name is not changed. Only contacts it does not have yet are added, matched by email address.
  • Importing the same file again adds nothing twice.

The file is read on your own computer. Only the clients you tick are sent to BidWrap.

TipCheck the Default tax and Country of new clients before their first estimate. An address book does not say which tax applies.
